What's going on here?

As you know, it seems that just about everyone who comes from the church in El Agustino to help us in Los Olivos gets attacked physically. Oswaldo's death, Angel's work accident leading to the loss of an eye, and Rufino getting hit by a car and causing him to be out for several weeks.
And the latest:
Lenin has recently received a call from God to start coming to play the guitar at the church services. His first service was a little over a week ago, and by the end of the week his appendix had ruptured.

I don't understand why all if this is happening, but I think I'd be afraid to help us!! While you guys are praying your 15 minute sections this weekend, Amy and I and the members of the church in El Agustino will be having a prayer vigil from 10pm Friday until 6am Saturday. I've never done this before, and right now the thought of being there for 8 hours doesn't sound too appealing, but once I get rid of self I can see even more how great this is. I wish churches in the States would be so excited and dedicated and selfless as this church in El Agustino. They've been a good example for me.
If you haven't signed up for a time and would still like to, please let me know. We have plenty of openings left, some times Saturday afternoon especially.

"But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves; we are affliceted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying about in the body the dying of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. For we who live are constantly being delivered over to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day."
2 Corinthians 4:7-12, 16

I hope enough ppl sign up for the prayer vigil. We tried to do that at our church, but we couldn't find enough people for the 24 hours.

Ditto what MAM said on filling the slots.

Our church did one (for our revival) and they filled all the slots. Anything is possible with God!

But on the bright side, you know that you are doing something good because the devil is working really hard to bring you guys down!! Praying that God will fill you with joy and protect you guys!!

Those verses remind me of a Jamie Smith song "Trading My Sorrows"

I'm trading my sorrow
I'm trading my shame
I'm laying it down for the joy of the Lord

I'm trading my sickness
I'm trading my pain
I'm laying it down for the joy of the Lord

Chorus:
And we say yes Lord yes Lord yes yes Lord
Yes Lord yes Lord yes yes Lord
Yes Lord yes Lord yes yes Lord Amen

I'm pressed but not crushed persecuted not abandoned
Struck down but not destroyed
I'm blessed beyond the curse for his promise will endure
And his joy's gonna be my strength

Though the sorrow may last for the night
His joy comes with the morning
